This course will teach you the fundamentals of financial accounting. You will learn how to prepare a balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement, analyze financial statements, and calculate and interpret critical ratios. You will also learn the role of managerial judgment in choosing accounting estimates and methods.

 

This course covers the basics of Financial Accounting:

· The Accounting Equation

· Recording Transactions

· The accounting cycle (transaction analysis, adjustments, closing)

· Buying and selling inventory

· Costing inventory

· Internal controls and cash

· Receivables

· Payables

· Preparing Payroll Records

· Fixed assets and depreciation

· Financial statements:  Income statement, Statement of retained earnings, Balance Sheet, and Statement of cash flows.

The method of instruction is a combination of lecture and exercises we work through together.  Also included in the course is a workbook that has problems to work through as a way to practice practice practice!

We will study 2 Accounting Software – Fina Standard and Balance Enterprise.
